Ashtanga Yoga is an ancient system of Yoga that was taught by Vamana Rishi in the Yoga Korunta. This text was imparted to Sri T. Krishnamacharya in the early 1900’s by his Guru Rama Mohan Brahmachari, and was later passed down to Pattabhi Jois during the duration of his studies with Krishnamacharya, beginning in 1927.
There is a beautiful science to the Ashtanga system, which this tumblr is meant to celebrate.

From Garbha Pindasana to Kukkutasana. (Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series)
-From Lotus Posture (Padmasana), pass your hands through the gap between the calves and the thighs close to your knees. Then, thrust your arms forward till the elbows.
-Breathe out and raise your thighs off the ground. Bend your arms at the elbows and then hold your ears with your hands. Hold for 5 breaths.
-Then, round your back and put your hands on your head.
-Carefully balance your body weight on the coccyx and start rolling on your mat (you do a 360° on your mat) 
-Maintain this final position (kukkutasana) for 5 breaths.
